Chinese Radicals [Updated]
If you are a beginner in Chinese and want to be a better speaker of this language, this is the app for you. The ultimate Chinese dictionary to learn Chinese, this app has all the symbols from the most important Simplified Chinese Characters down to the least important ones.
If you are a Chinese person trying to improve your Chinese skills or even a non Chinese person trying to understand the language, you are going to love this app.
The usage is very simple. You simply type a character in the input field and you will get a multiple choice. If you choose the correct one, you get the points shown in the number area and if you choose the wrong one, you lose points. If you get three points, the app will remove a random symbol from the current list and replace it with another random symbol.
You can see if you have a point, by tapping on the number. If you don’t have a point, tap on the number to get one. If you have three points, tap on the star icon to remove a random character from the current set and reset the points.
Once you have three points, you can tap the three points icon on the bottom of the screen and it will take you to the radical dictionary to look up the chosen character.

What’s New In Chinese Radicals?
The idea of this application is to use the radicals learned to train ones brain to recognize the meaning of the characters of Simplified Chinese.
This is the first version. This release is far from done. I have planned and designed a lot of ideas, but i haven’t done any of it.
I have used the following applications for a reference, both the official Dictionary, Pinyin and this application:
The application uses a standard windows dialog for input, displaying the character when you type it. The dialog contains the on-screen keyboard and allows you to copy the character that you just typed.
I have also used many resources:
Pinyin input – the official Chinese pronunciation
This should not be necessary, but is for this release.
Pinyin input – google
This is the only thing i needed, as i wanted to help the users out.
Pinyin input – this wikipedia
This should not be necessary as the Official Pinyin is enough.
On-screen keyboard – Microsoft
This should not be necessary, but is for this release.
Radical Library – chinese-radicals
This is required as the Official Dictionary is not useful for such a small group of radicals.
Summary:
Once you have all this experience in learning Chinese characters, you can try to look for meanings of the Chinese characters you use in your everyday life.
You are NOT going to look up these meanings in the dictionary (you can do that after learning Chinese).
You can take this Application as a small guide to learn how to learn Chinese characters.
—————————————————-
To learn Chinese:
Firstly, you need a reliable dictionary for both reading and writing. This is a must! The official Pinyin dictionary is not a good tool, in my opinion.
With this dictionary, you can find all the characters you want to learn in one place.
It is a good idea to keep this dictionary open at all time, and to look up the character you want to know before you learn the pronunciation. You will need to look up the pronunciation if you don’t know the character in the first place.
Once you have the character you can copy the pronunciation from the official dictionary and add it to the character you have learned, or memorize the pronunciation of the character.
Remember, the key is to do these steps in order.
You will also need to learn the Pinyin of the characters you need for the rest of your life. This includes, the words you speak, the words you read and the numbers you see. You are free to look up the meaning of the character you type, but you should try to look up the meaning of the words you speak first.
Secondly, you need to learn the pronunciation of the language you use every day.
