For now, I can only see a few crumblings of the skeleton of an online RPG. It’s only going to get better.

The monster fights are cool. As promised, I also see the monsters as their genuine selves, not just reactions to each other. Despite the boisterous dragonne and the obviously suicidal half-mech, the latter is still trying to dodge the attack from the dinosaur, which is actually trying to tear off its leg. The dragonne seems quite happy to let the half-mech die, as long as his time comes.

The special attack system is good, too. It makes you feel like you’re putting that all of your strength and heart into the special attacks. The ball of light that will explode on a hit feels like a real bomb, and the three special attack types are fun to switch between. The camera isn’t great, and I can’t get proper movement by using WASD, but the controls are satisfactory, nonetheless. I haven’t gotten the equipment to try Dual Wield yet, but with a few online matches, I’ll be able to try it out.

There’s one downside to the game. If a character gets down to 0 HP and the player wants to keep playing, it’s only possible to heal it in towns. This is quite irritating, as the player can’t directly heal the character in the field with potions. It’s only possible to heal the character inside a village; even if the player wants to play in the fields, they can’t heal the character, so the game becomes unbalanced. Perhaps it’d be better to give all characters the same HP bar.
